OK, here's the alternate version of my story.
Jesse was an idealistic, good-looking young man who always took a stand on the environment. He was an important member of an environmentalist group known as "Dirt First," who did many protests on the ethnic treatment of animals in the past. Once, they dressed in cow costumes on the roof of a burger joint and protested on how eating animals is wrong, since the protesters were highly vegetarian. The group had been arrested for their protesting, but Jesse never really gave up on his beliefs; he always thought on the optimistic side of things.
One night, as Jesse left his apartment to attend another club meeting of "Dirt First," it began to get dark, and it started to lightly rain. Even though it was lightly raining, the road was probably going to be very slippery, so Jesse thought twice and decided to take it slow. He got into his forest green Subaru Legacy, took a deep sigh, and drove off.
Jesse always took the road through the woods, because it was the shortest way for him to get to the meeting. The road was beginning to get a bit slippery as he went downhill, so he tried his best to not slip off the road and down a steep hill. As he went down, the car seemed to go faster, even he had his foot on the brake the whole time. Luckily, at the bottom of the hill, the road continued to go straight and he felt relieved. Up ahead, there was a pothole that Jesse couldn't see, and he was going kind of fast on this slippery road. Then, a young buck appeared next to the road near a tree, and he was about to bound across the road. Jesse drove over the pothole without knowing it, lost a little control of the car and then hit the buck, pinning him against the tree and breaking some of his bones. The car then bounced back after the contact with the buck and went into the ditch. Then the rain began to diminish. All was silent in the woods.
Jesse checked himself to see that he did not suffer any injuries, and got out of the car to check the damage. There was only a major fender bender on the hood, but the rest of the car was fine. He looked over to see the buck, and then put a hand over his mouth to say, "Oh, no." The buck was as good as dead, for his ribs were cracked and broken, and , therefore, the buck lost his ability to breathe. Jesse went over to the buck, got on his knees, and trembled. He never killed another living animal in his life before, so then he began to sob and shout, "No! NOO! Why, God, Why?! Why couldn't it have been me instead?" He soon started crying and threw himself with his arms over the dead carcass. He then got up, walked to the middle of the road, spread his arms out wide and shouted towards the sky, "I'm sorry! I didn't mean for this to happen! Oh, I'd do anything for this deer, even if it means giving my life to him! I'd do anything! ANYTHING!!!"
Just then, Jesse began to feel sick. Something felt wrong with his ribs, so he grasped his chest, fell forward on one hand, and collapsed to the ground. He tried to take deep breaths, but he soon grew dizzy and began to fall asleep...
A while later, Jesse then woke up and saw that something wasn't right. He could see that the car was there, but how could he be over by the road when he's resting on the...grass? He looked around and then saw that he had fur, a tail, a weight on his head, and seemed to be on all fours. He suddenly realized that he was in the buck's body! He could have felt afraid and panicked, but all of his human memories and thoughts have diminished from his mind forever. The only thoguht that come from his mind was his awareness of who he is. He then got up, went over to his former human body, and nudged it, as if to say, "Thank you." Then he looked up to see police cars arrive at the scene, so he bounded off deep into the woods.
The police was contacted by the people of "Dirt First" since they were concerned that Jesse was missing and didn't show up for the usual meeting. The police arrived at the scene of the accident to find his body and his car. Jesse's human body was given a prober burial by his friends and family, even by the members of "Dirt First."
There were a few questions, though, that remained in everyone's minds. What was Jesse doing out in the middle of the road with broken ribs? Could he have injured himself from the deployed airbag and tried to breathe? Why did the car have an indentation of hitting an animal instead of the nearby tree? If there was an animal involved, where did it go? Only such questions will remained unanswered....

Sorry for double posting, but the link doesn't seem to work anymore, so I decided to post the "TF" version here, anyway.
One Life to Give by: A Deer's Son (my username at Doc's Lab)
Jesse was an idealistic, good-looking young man who always took a stand on the environment. He was an important member of an environmentalist group known as "Dirt First," who did many protests on the ethnic treatment of animals in the past. Once, they dressed up in cow costumes and stood on the roof of a burger joint to protest on how eating animals is wrong, since the protesters were highly vegetarina. The group had been arrested for their protesting, but Jesse never really gave up on his beliefs; he always thought on the optimistic side of things. He was also very dedicated to the group, for he always showed up to every meeting, ready to take care of any new business.
One night, as Jesse left his apartment to attend another club meeting of "Dirt First," the sky began to grow dark, and it started to lightly rain. Even though it was lightly raining, the road probably was going to be very slippery, so he thought twice and decided to take it slow. He got into his forest green Subaru Legacy, took a deep sigh, and drove off.
Jesse always took the road through the woods, because it was the shortest way for hum to get to the meeting. The road was beginning to get a bit slippery as he went down the winding hills, so he tried his best not to slip off the road and go down the steep, rocky hill into the woods. As he went down, the car seemed to go a bit faster, even though he had his foot down on the brake the whole time. Luckily, at the bottom of the hill, the road continued to go straight and he felt relieved. Long down the road, there was a pothole that he couldn't see, and he was going kind of fast on the slippery and wet road.
Then, a young buck appeared next to the road near a tree, and he was about to bound across the road. Jesse drove over the pothole without knowing it, lost a little control of the car and then hit a buck, pinning him against the tree and breaking some of his bones. The car then bounced back after contact with the buck and went into the ditch. Then the rain began to diminish. All was silent in the woods.
Jesse then felt emotionally shocked at what just happened. He checked to see that he didn't suffer any injuries, got out of his slightly damaged car, and went over to see the buck. He then put a hand to his mouth and quietly said to himself, "Oh, no!" The buck was as good as dead, for his ribs were cracked and broken, and he, therefore, lost his ability to breathe. Jesse then went over to the buck, got on his knees, and trembled. He never killed another living animal before in his life, so then he began to sob and shout, "No! NOO! Why, God, why?! Why couldn't it have been me instead?" He soon started to cry and threw himself with his arms over the dead carcass. He then got up, walked over to the middle of the road, spread his arms wide and shouted towards the sky, "I'm sorry! God, I am SO sorry! Why did it have to be this way? Oh, I'd do anything for the buck, even if it means giving my life to him. I'll do anything to help him! ANYTHING!!!"
Then, at that moment after his last statement, Jesse felt both a quick heat rush and some growing internal pain throughout his whole body, so he clutched his chest and fell to his knees. He felt like he was burning up, so he quickly tore off his shirt and slipped off his shorts and sandals. He arched his back and clutched his fists tightly, for his muscles began to tighten quite heavily. He then got on his haneds and knees and was breathing very hard and groaning loudly. He even shut his eyes and grit his teeth as tight as he could, for the pain was quite unbearable. White fur began to grow up the insides of his legs, up the stomach and chest, and up to the top of his neck.
Everywhere else on his skin, rusty brown-colored fur grew in place as well. His fingers began to shrink, curl slightly and stiffen into cloven hooves, while the thumbs sunk into his plams behind the hooves and split into dew claws. The same thing was happening to his little toes and big toes, respectively. His upper arms and legs began to shorten, while his hands lengthened and melded together to form single long bones. His back began to get worse and he turned over to fall on his back. The excruciating pain kept getting worse and worse. His groaning soon started to get deeper and more gutteral sounding. His eyes grew out of their sockets and separated, and his ears grew bigger and more pointed and moved up slowly to the top of his skull. His face stretched out little by little, as his nose widened and a leather covering filled skin around his nostrils and upper lip. The molars and canines disappeared into his gums to make it suitable to eat only fruit, plants and nuts. His neck began to grow longer as his face kept changing. He then bent his head up to see that his pelvis and shoulders were stretching and reshaping to accomodate walking around on all fours, and his arms and legs started to come into a fixed position. He could also see his tailbone grow longer and burst out of his skin to form a tail, with fur growing in place. He then got on all fours and thought to himself, "Please, PLEASE NO MORE!" but it got worse as his face stretched to form a deer muzzle, and his eyes changed into a full color brown, and his color vision started to diminish into only green and grey-colored tones. Soon, antlers began to protrude and spread into fine sharp points from the top of his skull. Not only was the outside of him changing, but the inside as well. For example, his stomach began to divide into four chambers to accomodate forming chewed food into cud. His voice then finally became low, grunting bleats. The physical pain was just something he couldn't take anymore. He felt heavy and dizzy, for there was a quick rush in his mind of all the instincts of being a deer; at the same time, all his human memories and thoughts started to diminish. The transformation was just too much for Jesse, so he fell and passed out. He looked back at the dead buck for the last time, as everything started to go black in his new vision....
The next morning, Jesse woke up and saw that everything in the forest was at peace. The birds were chirping, the flowers were in full bloom, and the sky was bright and sunny, and htere were no signs of any clouds in the sky. Everything was clear. He then found himself lying on his side in the middle of the road, got up and tried to remember everything he ever knew, but all that came out was his awareness of who he is. He then looked over by the car and then the tree. He then saw that there was his former human body, lying there with his arms and legs straddled out from the rest of this broken body. The dead buck must have "switched places" by changing into Jesses former human self. Jesse then walked over on his new legs, stumbling little by little, and nudged him and licked his face as if to say, "Thank you." Then he perked his new ears up to hear cars coming. He then boundered off into the woods into the woods to start a new, and perhaps happier, life as a deer.
The police arrived at the scene and found the human body. They recieved a call from the other night by the members of "Dirt First," as they were concerned that he never showed up at the meeting. The body was given a proper burial by Jesse's friends and family. They were in deep sadness that Jesse "died" so young.
There were some puzzling questions left in everyone's minds. Why was Jesse's body laid out near the tree with a broken body? There wasn't any broken glass from the windshield, and the airbag was deployed. Could he have gotten injured by the airbag and tried to get out of the car to breathe easily? But then why were his clothing all torn and laid out in the middle of the road? Why did the car have indentations that it hit an animal? And if there was an animal involved in the accident, where could it have gond to? Only such questions will remain unanswered....
