I know it has been awhile since I have replied but I was curious at how when Bambi's mother died you can see Bambi all sad and then when there was a springtime he was a kind of friendly happy for his friends Thumper and Flower but it seems the only really lovely kind of happiness was when he met Faline. So I ask you guys did Faline fill the emptiness of his heart after his mother died?

I suppose she would have been of some comfort to him, but I think that mainly, he was just getting a bit randy.

On a slightly more serious note, I think that if you're going to look at the psychological effects the event may had on the character, he may have subconsciously seen her as a "filler" for his mam, but I think we may be anthropomorphising the character even further than animals were in the film by assuming this. Certainly an interesting idea, nonetheless.

Faline certainly made an impact for Bambi in his life, though I'm not sure if she served as the sole factor to help him fully cope with his mother's death. There isn't any scene that focuses on her consoling him about it in those two movies; however, in the midquel, she does help stand up for him whenever a certain obstacle got in his way (like whenever Ronno bullied him around) so that he could develop the courage he needed to be more independent. It's like she served as a significant link to make his life more meaningful. Can you imagine what Bambi's life would have been like if he hadn't met Faline in the meadow as a fawn?
