I'd say that music can both be treated as an art and as a science.
Art means feelings, and as an art, we can create music for pleasure and to express different emotions. You don't have to understand music in order to enjoy it.
As a science, music can be analyzed and studied, like on the tempos, dynamics, and rhythm. It can also be studied in different fields, like physics (for acoustics) and biology (as a healing type of medicine, much like how laughter can be used as "medicine").

I can't believe that I didn't notice this topic before.
I completely agree, although I prefer it as a science. I don't understand how some people can enjoy music, but don't care about the technical side of it, or don't play an instrument. If I enjoy a song, I HAVE to learn it on an instrument, and if I don't play the instrument, if I feel that I could use the instrument for a lot, I have to save up and buy the instrument. I sometimes really feel like taking the music apart, which is why I should try to learn to read music, but I tend to lose patience quickly. There's much more to music than a lot of people think, which is what you've brought up here. People who don't play/read into the techninal side of it don't know what they're missing. Production is just as interesting, and tends to be the side that a lot of people who don't know much about music leave out, which is quite sad. Try any CD Trey Spruance has had a hand in the production with. Excellent stuff. I'd start with Estradasphere's "Buck Fever".
